Welcome to Semper Grata

Semper Grata translates to “Always Welcome”.

Why I Started Semper Grata

I started Semper Grata after I retired from teaching. I remember how difficult it was to get information about raising a child with disabilities and how isolating it can be. I want to share my knowledge and experience with other parents. Semper Grata is a place where families who have loved ones with disabilities can find information, support, and empathy. Please use the resources I have provided and let me know if there is something you would like me to address.

Semper Grata has grown and expanded since the summer of 2022. Semper Grata now publishes books (mollydavidauthor.com), attends conferences and informational/resource events, and presents on disability issues. At the core, though, Semper Grata’s purpose is the help families and educate communities.

What I Can Do

I am a resource…I can share the information and resources I have accumulated over the years. Check out the “Articles” page to find information on important topics related to raising a child with a disability. The “Resources” page has free printables and links to programs and agencies that can help your family. I can share my experiences and listen to yours. I can learn from you and you can learn from me.

I am a speaker…I can present to your group or organization. I can speak to families, staff, and/or audiences at conferences. Please contact me at mdavid@sempergrata.com about presentations and workshops related to my experiences and/or my “Planning for the Future: How to Protect a Loved One with a Disability” book. Fees vary depending on the organization and bulk book ordering. For information on author visits for “My Mischievous Wheelchair” please go to mollydavidauthor.com.

I am an author…I published “Planning for the Future: How to Protect a Loved One with a Disability” (Amazon best seller’s list) in July 2023 as a guide for families on what to know about SSI, ABLE accounts, and Special Needs Trusts. I also published a children’s picture book, “My Mischievous Wheelchair” in October 2023. You can find more information about this at mollydavidauthor.com.

What You Can Do

Sign up for my newsletter. The newsletter provides updates and information on disability issues. I try not to post more than once a month. Your email will not be flooded with communications from me and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Contact me about speaking to your organization. Parents and advocates want and need this information. I have received very positive feedback from groups because I am speaking from experience. Or contact me about a topic you think I should cover.

Buy one of my books! My NEW e-book “A Guide for Parents: Accessing Disability Resources” (2024) is a how-to guide for parents in Oakland and Wayne County, MI. It includes information and links to help you access what your child needs. “Planning for the Future” is available on Amazon only. “My Mischievous Wheelchair” is available from any online retail store.

Families that have a loved one with a disability do not live in a world of just disability. They have the same concerns as all families do. They travel, raise other children, work, and provide care for other family members. This site strives to address all areas of home life.

I want to show the world what people with disabilities can do and how they can live full lives. I believe that supporting families and educating communities will create an environment that will include all.

Thanks,

Molly
